The virtue of giving Adhan is proved by this blessed hadith of the Holy Prophet (saws): “When the muezzins rise on the Day of Resurrection, their necks will be the highest.”
Introduction
On the Day of Resurrection, the muezzins’ necks will be the longest. This means that the muezzin will appear the most prominent and unique on the Day of Hisab when all the people will be drenched in heat and sweat, the muezzins will have no trouble, and their necks will be raised.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amir said that he heard the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) saying: When people are called for prayers, The listener should keep on shouting the exact words and at the same time keep on giving Durood on me; at that time, he who utters the words of Durood then becomes entitled to the mercy of Allah.
Then ask Allah Almighty for the waseela for me, Adhan Dua; this is such a high place that only my caste will be raised in it because it is made for me. So whoever seeks waseela for me will have intercession.

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ هٰذِه الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَآئِمَةِ، اٰتِ مُحَمَّدَنِ الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَالْفَضِيْلَةَ، وَالدَّرَجَةَ الرَّفِيْعَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَّحْمُوْدَنِ الَّذِي وَعَدْتَّه، وَارْزُقْنَا شَفَاعَتَه يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، اِنَّکَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيْعَادَ

O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrection
Hadiths about Adhan’s importance
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said, “It is essential to call people to prayer.” If these people understand, then everyone will become a candidate for this position. Even people will be entitled to pay for this position individually.
Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (RA) said to someone: I do not doubt that you people love to go to the forest and raise your animals, so be careful when the time for prayer comes, then call the people for the first prayer and say it very loudly because whoever hears the Adhan of The caller will stand with him Hazrat Abu Saeed said: I listened to this from Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: The voice of the muezzin is forgiven as far as it reaches, and every dry and wet thing bears witness to the one who gives the call to prayer.
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: Paradise becomes obligatory for one who gives the Adhan for twelve years, and for him every day sixty virtues are written on each Adhan and thirty virtues on each takbeer.
Hazrat Maqil bin Yasar narrated that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: When the morning call is told in a town, it remains under the protection of Allah Almighty till evening and when the evening call is said. She stays under the protection of Allah Almighty till morning.
The Background of Azaan
The background of the beginning of the call to prayer is such that when the Holy Prophet (saws) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, the number of Muslims increased, and a mosque was built there; he consulted the Companions for the prayer. It is essential to specify the time of worship in the announcement so that all people are informed about the prayer times and can arrive at the mosque on time to participate in the congregation. The Companions gave different advice.
When Hazrat Abdullah bin Zayd (RA) saw that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was deeply worried about this and no better solution was forthcoming, he became distraught. The matter should be settled as soon as possible so that the worries and anxieties of the Holy Prophet (saws) may be removed.
He came home and fell asleep, thinking about what you see in a dream at night. An angel stood before him, reciting the words of the call to prayer. When morning came, he got up and went to Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and told him his dream.
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Surely this dream is true, and Prophet said: Bring Bilal as your companion and tell him the words that have been taught to you in the dream, he will recite them loudly because he is louder than you.

The words of the call to prayer and how they are performed are that the muezzin stands in a high place in the mosque facing the qiblah and puts his fingers in his ears or puts his hands on his ears and says “Allahu akbar Allaho Akbar” Then pause for a moment and say Allaho Akbar Allaho Akbar.
Then, I say twice that I bear witness that Ashhadu a la ilaha illa Allah. Then say twice that Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah. Then he turned to the right and said twice, Hayya’ ala-s-Salah. Then, turn to the left and Hayya’ ala-l-Falah twice.
Then he should face the qiblah and say, “Akbar Akbar.” Then once again, say La ilaha illallah. Say these words in the morning: Call prayer is better than sleep.
The call to prayer is to be announced for the actual prayer. However, there is evidence of this for some other purposes as well, such as the command to call to prayer in the ear of a newborn.
There is scope for Azan as a cure for the plague. Some scholars say that it is Mustahab to give Adhan to end the epidemic. Whether it is a child or an older adult whose voice is understood, people should listen to his words and know that it is Azan, then he can give Azan; the muezzin must have the following attributes:
- Be a man
- Be wise
- Be virtuous
- Know the time of prayers
- Be respectful
- Be able to warn people that is, have such dignity in people that people can hear his harsh words
