Allah Himself has commanded in the Qur’an to recite Durood Sallallahu alaihi wasallam on the Holy Prophet. In Surah Al-Ahzab, Allah Almighty has said: I myself and all my angels also recite Durood.
Then He commanded the believers: O you who believe! You too send blessings on my prophet. It is the duty of every Muslim to recite Durood at least once in his life and no one disagrees.

Qasida Burda Sharif
Imam Sharaf-ud-Din Busiri was a great businessman and scholar. He was also a great scholar and poet of Arabic literature. He suddenly had a stroke. Lying on the bed, he came up with the idea of writing a painful poem in the presence of the Holy Prophet (sws) which is full of blessings and peace. So, immersed in the love and affection of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he created an everlasting composition like Burda Sharif consisting of 166 verses.
At night, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) came in a dream and said to Imam al-Busiri (may Allaah have mercy on him): Busiri recited this poem, he asked O Messenger of God! I can’t speak I’m paralyzed The Holy Prophet (sws) placed his blessed hand on the body of Imam Busiri which healed him. So Imam Busiri recited the Qasida.
When Imam Busiri woke up in the morning, his paralysis was over. When he came out of the house, he met a Shaikh Abu Al-Rajah in the street and asked Imam Busiri to recite that night poem to me too. Imam Busiri was surprised to hear this and asked, “How did you know this?”
He said: When Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was swaying with joy when he heard it, I was also standing at a distance listening to him. If we claim to be Muslims today, then it is a blessing of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that He has made us know one God. Therefore, it is our duty to send greetings to you.
