Allah has commanded in the Qur’an to recite Durood Sallallahu alaihi wasallam on the Holy Prophet. In Surah Al-Ahzab, Allah Almighty has said: I myself and all my angels also recite Durood.
Then He commanded the believers: O you who believe! You, too, send blessings on my Prophet. Every Muslim must recite Durood at least once, and no one disagrees.
When the Holy Prophet is mentioned more than once in a meeting, it is obligatory to recite the Durood at least once, and it is better to recite the Durood every time.
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Meaning
The Arabic proverb means, “Allah send blessings on the Holy Prophet and send blessings on the family of the Holy Prophet and also send peace on the Holy Prophet.” And whenever the name of the Holy Prophet is mentioned, one should recite salallahu alayhi wasalam.
As in the hadith Mubarakah, Hazrat Ana narrated that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: Whoever sends blessings on me once, Allah will bless him 10, forgive him ten sins and raise him ten degrees (about nearness to Allah).
Hazrat Zaid bin Kharaja Ansari I asked Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) how we can send blessings to him. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: Send blessings on me, supplicate loudly, and say: “O Allah, bless the Prophet Muhammad and his family. Could you send it?
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam in Arabic Text
This is a short form of Durood Pak saw in Arabic, which is commonly used. Apart from this, there are many Durood that can also be recited.
Imam Ibn Hajar narrates that a righteous person saw someone in a dream and asked him what happened to him after his death. He said Allah forgave me and sent me to Paradise when the righteous person asked why this behaviour occurred.
He said that when the angels weighed my deeds, counted my sins, and counted the Durood-e-Pak that I had recited, the Durood exceeded the sins, while my sins exceeded all other good deeds. As the number of Durood-e-Pak increased, Allah ordered the angels to finish his reckoning; since his Durood had increased, so take him straight to Paradise.
Imam Qustalani says that when Hazrat Hawa (peace be upon her) was born after the creation of Adam, Hazrat Adam wanted to be close to her.
The Almighty commanded the angels that they should get married first, and as a dowry, both of them were ordered to recite Durood on my beloved Prophet twenty times together. So he recited Durood twenty times, and Hazrat Hawa became halal to him.
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Symbol
If at any time you are writing articles and the name of the Holy Prophet appears in it, you should write this symbol immediately. This is a straightforward and concise symbol.
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said:” When you send Durood to me, send it in a very beautiful way because you do not know that your Durood is offered to me.”
Praying Durood on the Holy Prophet (saws) is a cause of great happiness and blessings. Wherever the Durood reciter recites, he reaches the Holy Court of the Holy Prophet (saws). Hazrat Muhammad says peace is upon him: “So wherever you are, your Durood reach me.”
Notice that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)said: Your Durood reaches me by itself, but it does not say it has been delivered. What is meant is that the Prophet says that the Durood is delivered by angels all week long, but wherever you recite it, I receive your Durood and listen to it myself on Fridays and Friday nights.
Qasida Burda Sharif
Imam Sharaf-ud-Din Busiri was a great businessman and scholar. He was also a great scholar and poet of Arabic literature. He suddenly had a stroke. Lying on the bed, he came up with the idea of writing a painful poem in the presence of the Holy Prophet (saws) full of blessings and peace. So, immersed in the love and affection of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he created an everlasting composition like Burda Sharif consisting of 166 verses.
At night, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) came in a dream and said to Imam al-Busiri (may Allaah have mercy on him): Busiri recited this poem, and he asked O Messenger of God! I can’t speak; I’m paralyzed. The Holy Prophet (SWS) placed his blessed hand on the body of Imam Busiri, which healed him. So Imam Busiri recited the Qasida.
When Imam Busiri woke up in the morning, his paralysis was over. When he left the house, he met a Shaikh Abu Al-Rajah in the street and asked Imam Busiri to recite that night’s poem to me, too. Imam Busiri was surprised to hear this and asked, “How did you know this?”
He said: When Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was swaying with joy when he heard it, I was also standing at a distance listening to him. If we claim to be Muslims today, it is a blessing of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that He has made us know one God. Therefore, we must send greetings to you.
